Sterilization indicators:

The sterilization process is required for complete destruction or elimination of all microorganisms (including spore-forming and non-sporulating bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoans), which may contaminate pharmaceuticals and other materials and thus can be harmful. The efficacy of any sterilization process is dependent upon the nature of the product, level and type of contamination, and the conditions under which the end product is obtained. Requirements for good manufacturing practice should be observed during all stages of production and sterilization.

The following systems for monitoring sterilization processes are used:

    • Biological control
    • Chemical control
