ScanStation 300 is a revolutionary device that combines incubation, detection and counting of colonies in petri dishes in one place. Colonies are detected and counted automatically as soon as they appear. With the ScanStation 300, you can monitor the growth curve of colonies in up to 300 petri dishes in real time.
Main features of ScanStation 300:
- Capacity: up to 300 Petri dishes
- Counting on pour plate, surface, Spiral, filtration membranes
- Petri dish sizes: Ø 55 to 65 mm, Ø 90 mm
- Telecentric lens
- Reading time in between each dish: 1 hour
Real-time bacterial growth
From the beginning of the incubation, the 300 Petri dishes are photographed every hour. Colonies are detected and counted as soon as they appear. Discover their bacterial growth hour by hour and get anticipated results.
E.g.: Coliforms on VRBL agar incubated at 37°C
A revolutionary concept
Colony counting is done during incubation.
You get a video of the bacterial growth in real time.
An incubator for 300 Petri dishes
ScanStation 300 is composed of a rotating storage carousel with a 300 Petri dishes capacity.
The 300 Petri dishes are processed simultaneously in this thermoregulated incubator with Peltier module ± 1°C.
A robotic arm transfers the Petri dishes for a time-lapse photography
The robotic arm transfers the Petri dishes from the carousel to the camera to perform a time-lapse photography.
ScanStation is equipped with a pressure-sensitive gripper which adapts itself to all Petri dishes.
High-performance results
Traceability
The data are archived and accessible throughout incubation till the final validation of the results.

Data integrity
ScanStation saves images and videos of bacterial growth from the start till the end of the incubation. You can recover the data beyond the incubation date.
The bacterial growth video helps validate the results by showing the distinction between a particle and a bacterium, avoiding false positives. Images taken at regular intervals enable to visualize the beginning of the growth of micro-organisms such as molds in order to facilitate counting.
ScanStation software complies with FDA 21 CFR Part 11 guidelines. It allows electronic signatures, audit trails and encrypted data for security reasons. You can assign different users rights depending on the access levels.
Mono- or multibatch
The loading of Petri dishes can be done at the beginning or during the incubation. ScanStation simultaneously processes batches with different light settings or different incubation time.
dataLink
The integrated barcode reader can read most 1D/2D barcodes on the market, including QR codes and datamatrix.
ScanStation is compatible with Spiral platers and the dataLink system. This will avoid double data entry, a source of error, and save time.
Telecentric lens
Upgraded counting accuracy
The high performance telecentric lens allows the Petri dish to be viewed in an absolute vertical position, without perspective distortion. The surface area around the edge of the dish, where the agar meniscus makes counting more difficult, is reduced. By reducing this area from 9% to 5% of the total surface of the Petri dish, counting performance increases. Typical counting accuracy increases from 95% to 97.5%. This is crucial for the pharmaceutical industry, where a colony on the edge of the dish can make the difference between a positive or negative result, especially in the monitoring of air quality in clean rooms. This new feature is standard on the ScanStation 300 model.
Central screen
Ergonomics optimized for your laboratory
The central screen reduces the ScanStation’s side space requirement. The linear space required is reduced from 245 cm to 175 cm compared to a ScanStation with a side screen and keyboard support. This is an attractive option for our customers looking to couple multiple ScanStations in their lab. This accessory is available on all ScanStation range: ScanStation 100 , ScanStation 200 and ScanStation 300.
Removable petals
Easy to clean and disinfect
To facilitate access to the bottom of the carousel, the 5-petal blocks removable can be removed by pulling on it, using a magnetic connection, so that the surface below the carousel can be cleaned easily. This makes 100% of the ScanStation floor area easily accessible and cleanable. This new feature is standard on the entire ScanStation range: ScanStation 100 , ScanStation 200 and ScanStation 300.
Applications
The ScanStation, incubator and automatic colony counter, integrated itself into different fields of application. Its flexibility allows it to adapt to any protocol such as bioburden, challenge tests, counting and quality control. Real-time monitoring offers anticipated results for validation.
